“I got my Save the Date…!”

  • We know. We're that couple. We're sorry.

In return, we're doing all we can to plan the most beautiful and joyful few days for you in one of the world’s most stunning places. And, no, we won’t have a gift registry on top of it all.

  • You bet your ass there will.

  • Lake Como is a long branch-shaped lake with 6 shorelines and it’s wayyy too deep for bridges. Although there are various ferries which cross the lake, staying on the wrong side could leave you stranded away from the action, and we don't want that!

We recommend staying in, or close to Bellagio which is located on the central peninsula of the lake and is well connected by ferry services.

  • Fly to either Milan Malpensa or Milan Bergamo. Both airports are north of the city and thus closer to the lakes. Both are well connected into the Milan city centre, if your journey takes you that way.

  • You are completely welcome to stay in a hotel if you wish, however, note that tourism costs are high in Lake Como and a hotel could be expensive. There are a lot of family-run hotels away from the lakeside which are offered at a more reasonable cost.

Our recommendation is to share accommodation where makes sense, and rent a whole apartment or house for the weekend. We’ve compiled a few cost efficient options on the ‘Where to Stay’ page.

Given that there is the option to book now/pay later on some accommodation, we strongly recommend booking soon to get the best deal.

  • Not necessarily but you may find it easiest to bite the bullet, join the Fiat 500 fleet and get a car for the weekend, as it will give you the most freedom to enjoy the area. Be cautious: most other drivers on the road will be Italian.

Milan is around 90 minutes drive from Bellagio.

You could also take the train. Milan Centrale Station to Varenna Esino is around 65 minutes. From Varenna, the ferry to Bellagio is around 20 minutes. The ferry is fun but not hugely dependable, so better to allow plenty of time if you choose to use it.

  • Details to be confirmed. We will have a welcome event locally on the afternoon of Saturday, 20 September. The wedding will take place from around 1pm on Sunday afternoon to midnight, with all of that day’s travel provided. There will likely be a goodbye event the following morning for those who are leaving later in the day.

  • If you want! Be aware that, beautiful though Lario is, it isn’t brimming with activities, unless you are a keen hiker, cyclist, or wakeboarder. The other lakes of northern Italy (Maggiore, Orta, etc.) are lovely, as are the Swiss Alps and the Lombardy countryside.

  • If he wants to stay married, yes.
